Congratulations to my “forever quarterback”, favorite athlete of all time (been watching him win ships for my Patriots since I was a freshman in high school… I’m now in my mid 30’s), and one of my personal heroes, @Tom Brady, on his unprecedented 7th championship!
As you continue to rewrite the record books and defy the haters and doubters everywhere (I’m looking at you, @Max Kellerman), what is most impressive is that you carry yourself with the same work ethic, humility, grace, and overall classiness that you have all these years. You’ve inspired a generation of Bostonians, football, and sport fans everywhere with your heart, incredible accomplishments, and overall mindset. You are a Mensch in every sense of the word, and I look forward to continue being inspired by your incredible story for many years to come. Nobody deserves this success more than you do.
Much will be written and discussed about TB12 as the GOAT and all his external accomplishments (championships, longevity, legacy, etc.) over the coming days and weeks and deservedly so. But amidst all these captivating story lines and discussions, I want you all to remember this: before all the success, the championships, and the glory, Tom Brady was and is the skinny, awkward, 6th round, 199th overall draft pick out of Michigan who was DOUBTED BY EVERYONE. That is part of his identity, and huge part of what has fueled him to put in the work for all these years that has led to all the championships and greatness. If Tom Brady had lets other people’s opinions define what he believed was capable of accomplishing, we wouldn’t be sitting here today, having this conversation.
As you start this work week, do yourself a favor: ask yourself a few of these questions (and write down the answers, if possible):
1) What can I learn from Tom Brady that I can apply in my own life to help me accomplish my goals?
2) What is YOUR fuel?
3) What are some of your goals?
4) How can you use that fuel to motivate yourself to work hard, defy the doubters, and achieve greatness in your own life?
